Absences / Report an Absence
Children are expected to attend school every day.It is the parents' responsibility to:1. provide or arrange adequate transportation to and from school;2. arrange for an adult to drop off and pick up the child on time each day; and3. report absences on the day of the child's absence from school.There are three types of absences in CSPP: excused absences, best interest days, and unexcused absences. The lists for each follow below.Excused AbsencesIllness or quarantine of enrolled childIllness or quarantine of enrolled child's parents/guardiansMedical/dental / vision appointments of enrolled childCourt-ordered visitation (court order must be on file in the Preschool Office)Family emergencies, which are defined asunexpected emergencies requiring the family members action:1. Death of an immediate family member2. Natural disasters3. Epidemic4. House fire or flooding5. Transportation problems,such as mechanical failure or car accident(not lack of transportation)6. Inclement weather which prevents enrolled child from getting to schoolBest Interest Days (limited to 10 days per school year)Illness and / or hospitalization of a family memberother than enrolled child's parents / guardians,including siblings and grandparentsTo attend funeral servicesReligious holidaysSpecial events, such as weddings, family reunions, etc.MovingCourt and / or immigration appointmentsTo take a family vacationTo spend time with visiting familyLack of transportationUnexcused Absences (limited to 3 days per school year)Enrolled child does not feel like attending schoolEnrolled child and / or enrolled child's parents / guardians work up lateDoctor's note is not provided for 5 consecutive days of absenceReason for absence is not specified or specificor does not fall under the Excused Absences aboveExceeds 10 Best Interest DaysEnrolled child's parent / guardian or authorized adult has not signed the sign in / out sheetPreschool Office is not notified of the absenceTo Report An Absence, call the Preschool Office at 714-447-7499.Remember: You will need to provide the child's name, school site, date(s) of absence(s), the specific reason for the absence (including who is sick or who has the appointment and what type of appointment it is or what the actual family emergency is), and your name, phone number and relationship to the child.Additionally, when your child returns to school, please remember to sign and provide the specific reason for your child's absence on your child's sign in / out sheet. If you have a doctor's note, please turn it in to your child's teacher on your child's first day back in the classroom. -

Drop Off and Pick Up Policies
The FSD California Preschool Program monitors attendance through the Learning Genie Application. Parents must download the “Learning Genie For Parents” application. This is a free mobile application for your iPhone, Android device, or another electronic device. Preschool personnel will provide you with an access code to log in to your child’s account.
This is a two-step process that parents/ guardians must complete.

Daily Health Card Screening. Parents or guardians must submit a digital Daily Health Card BEFORE the child enters the classroom. If parents/guardians cannot complete or access the Daily Health Card, an iPad will be available at the designated check-in area.

Sign in/out. Daily signing in/out is required by law for the safety and supervision of children and program regulations. The signature must be legible.

During the check-in/check-out, parents must wait until the preschool staff receives or dismisses the student and completes their check-in or check-out.

The parent, guardian, or another authorized adult (18 years or older and listed on the emergency card) must sign in or out using a full, legible signature, either electronically or on paper.

Preschool Staff members are not allowed to sign children in for arrival or out for departure except for children who require District services (i.e., speech, assessments, etc.) during the hours of their preschool program may be signed in and out by authorized Fullerton School District Student Support Services staff for “disruption of services.”
