Dear Fullerton School District families,
On behalf of the Fullerton School District, we want to wish you a happy and relaxing holiday season. We also want to provide some post-winter break safety reminders relating to COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses common during this time of year. We expect there to be an increase in cases reported during the holiday season and want to ensure that families know how to respond due to limited staffing during the holidays.
Here are some general reminders so you can relax and plan appropriately for a safe return on January 10th:
-
With the return of students to campus on January 10th, we ask that parents only notify the school if they have a student who remains in isolation on January 10th.
-
Families will not need to notify the school of a COVID-19 positive result received during winter break unless it causes the student to be absent from school.
-
Families should continue to follow the Student Decision Tree - Current for COVID-19 confirmed positive cases.
-
Families are encouraged to test for COVID-19 on the Sunday before returning to campus.
-
It is recommended that families monitor their children for other respiratory illnesses and follow the District’s Student Illness Guidelines.
Happy Holidays! -

Dear Fullerton School District Community,
As we prepare for the start of the 2022-23 school year, I would like to take this opportunity to share important information with you about what our schools and FSD are doing to continue to address COVID-19 on our campuses. We will continue our current health and safety mitigation strategies, some of which include:
-
Enhanced ventilation throughout our facilities
-
Cleaning and disinfecting protocols
-
Handwashing and/or hand sanitizing stations
In addition, we will continue to provide community notifications of confirmed positive COVID-19 cases and track this information. We will also have antigen testing available for students, staff and FSD community members at our District Office and each school office in the event COVID-19 symptoms occur, or if they are considered a close contact to a confirmed positive case.
As a reminder, while masks are not required, anyone who wishes to wear a mask may do so at any time. Please see the updated California Department of Public Health (CDPH) guidelines for schools for more information or visit our COVID-19 Updates and Guidelines for more information about FSD practices and protocols. If you have specific questions regarding our COVID-19 Prevention Plan (CPP), you may direct those inquiries to Covidresponse@myfsd.org.
Please keep students home when sick. If your student is confirmed positive for COVID-19, contact the school office. We will ask you to complete a short google form (similar to last year), which allows us to continue to monitor cases and provide our parent community with appropriate notifications and guidelines to follow.
With these ongoing health and safety measures in place, we are excited to have all our students, staff and parents back with us as we start the 2022-23 school year. Thank you for your partnership and we look forward to a wonderful year.
Sincerely,
Robert Pletka, EdD.
Superintendent, Fullerton School District
