DEI Committee
  • The District Wide DEI Committee is comprised of four working subcommittees:  Parent Education, Diverse Literacy, Speakers Series, and  District-wide Events and Activities.  

    The purpose of this committee and its subcommittees are to serve as a working and recommending body for the Executive Cabinet and  Board of Trustees. The goal is to actively support the district's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts by affording multiple experiences, lenses, and perspectives for a holistic approach to this work. 

    Committee Descriptions:  

    Parent Education: Develop and offer opportunities for parents to learn about various DEI-related topics via workshops, webinars, and information sessions.

    Speakers Series: Research, create and expand collaboration with groups like the Museum of Tolerance, Fullerton Museum, and other local connections to storytellers.

    Diverse Literacy: Support diverse books and authors offered to the classroom and school libraries; cultivate support for schools acquiring age-appropriate and diverse authors and books; work with other subcommittees to showcase and support literacy as a family-centered activity. 

    District-wide Events and Activities: Develop focused experiences, events, celebrations, acknowledgments of diversity (not only race/ethnic focused but diverse families, abilities, languages, etc., throughout the year. These efforts would be both multicultural and multilingual, include family experiences.
