CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
The CA Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System is intended to provide parents and students more accurate and actionable information about what students are learning. The assessments that comprise the CAASPP administration are a mix of online and paper-pencil assessments. The online component contains the Smarter Balanced English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics tests. The paper-pencil component includes CST/CMA/CAPA science tests.CAASPP Starting Smarter for FamiliesThe California Department of Education (CDE), in collaboration with the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium and Educational Testing Service, launched a website to help empower parents/guardians and families to become partners in their children’s academic success:The family-focused website provides resources to facilitate parents’/guardians’ understanding of the scores presented on their child’s Student Score Reports. Using these websites, families can become involved in their child’s educational progress and:
