Fullerton School District Superintendent Gretchen Janson, Ed.D., traded the District Office for a kindergarten classroom on September 9, spending a full school day as a substitute teacher at Commonwealth Elementary School as part of her first 100 days leading the District. Stepping into Mrs. Sandra Dellalonga’s classroom, Janson taught 28 kindergarten students for the day – marking her first time leading a classroom in 22 years.

Champions for Learning brings together parent ambassadors from each of FSD’s 20 schools for quarterly, multilingual meetings that rotate among District campuses. The format allows parents to learn about District priorities, discuss issues affecting families and experience the programs that make each school community unique.

Nearly 2,700 schools statewide applied for the 2026 awards program, placing all 20 FSD schools among California’s top-performing schools in implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This is the third year in a row all District schools have earned Platinum PBIS status.
