Across the District, sixth and eighth-grade promotion ceremonies honored elementary and junior high students for their hard work, growth and achievements. Students proudly walked across stages and outdoor platforms to receive certificates, be recognized for academic accomplishments and earn special awards.

Fisler School students turned small acts of kindness into a major community impact, collecting more than 400 pounds of soda pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Orange County, the organization’s largest single pull tab donation in more than a decade. McDonaldland character Grimace and Hamburlgar made special appearances to surprise the student body.

Clad in hardhats, yellow safety vests and protective glasses, dozens of eighth-grade students in Nicolas Junior High School's Construction Academy stood alongside donors, community supporters and District leaders to mark the milestone achievement on May 22, 2026.

Launched in Fall 2025 at Parks and Nicolas junior high schools, the Spyder Lab gives students hands-on Career Technical Education experiences that blend entrepreneurship, graphic design and business strategy with industry-level tools and technology. 

Working in teams of three, students researched, planned and built rockets using recyclable materials, designing systems for navigation, propulsion and recovery. After completing detailed blueprints and participating in test launches, students analyzed performance and refined their designs, applying real-world engineering practices.

Completing its first year, Read with a Loved One is a once-a-month initiative that has quickly become a meaningful tradition at Fern Drive, creating opportunities for families to pause during busy schedules and spend time reading together for just 30 minutes each month.
