Ms. Elizabeth Ellison

I was born in Oakland, California and enjoyed a fun childhood in Northern California. At the age of 9, my family moved to Southern California. When I was in 6th grade, my mom became a teacher and I knew, at that time, I wanted to be a teacher too. I have always enjoyed working with kids. After years of babysitting, my first official job was in retail at Disneyland, where I learned the value of a good work ethic. I moved on to work as a recreation leader with the City of Yorba Linda Parks and Recreation. This was a great job that prepared me for teaching in many ways.

After graduating from CSUF with a Multiple Subject Credential, I earned a job teaching 5th grade at Raymond Elementary in the Fullerton School District. The fun fact about my first 10 years as a teacher, is that I taught right next door to my mom who taught 4th grade. It was an awesome experience to share being a teacher with my mom.

When Robert C. Fisler School opened, I was so happy to be hired to teach ELA at this new innovative school. It was an amazing experience to be a part of the opening of this school. I can't believe Fisler has already been open for 18 years! So, that means that this last spring, I finished my 28th year of teaching.

One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is the fact that each school year is a fresh start. Each year brings new opportunities to learn and implement new teaching practices. I enjoy collaborating with my colleagues and most of all, I enjoy seeing my students learn and grow as they prepare to move on to high school. So exciting!!

I am looking forward to another great year.

Back in 2008 I published my first novel with a publisher named Holiday House. This was an AMAZING experience. My novel is titled, Flight. I have written two other novels that I hope to publish at some point. I love to write!

I also enjoy being a mom to my beautiful son, Samuel. This year he is going to be a 4th grader! He is the kindest person I know. He is creative, athletic, and musically talented. Samuel and I enjoy going for bike rides, paddle boarding, playing at the beach and traveling. We also love to go camping. We enjoy playing with and caring for our many pets: a tortoise named Sancho Panza, a bearded dragon named Wall-e, too many fish and snails to name, and two funny, loveable cats named Monday and Harper. Credit for the awesome name of Monday goes to Samuel.
