• Back to School Night - SAVE THE DATE

    August 18 - 6:00-7:30

  • Each year our sixth graders have the opportunity to attend Outdoor Science School. During the 2022-2023 school year, sixth graders will be attending Emerald Cove Outdoor Science Institute (ECOS Institute) located in the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains, near the town of Running Springs at camp Cedar Crest. Students will learn the interdependence of all living things and the importance of caring for the Earth. They will have the opportunity to hike established trails, investigate geological features, observe wildlife and compare plant adaptations. During the evenings, students study the night sky through telescopes, and enjoy skits, songs and stories. Students will spend just a few days in the mountains but the experiences shared leave memories that will last a lifetime! Our sixth graders will spend 4 days, 3 nights, experiencing physical, earth and life science principles through hands-on lessons, outdoor activities, and team building games.

The 2022 - 2023 trip will take place Tuesday, May 16 through Friday, May 19, 2023.  The suggested donation for this trip will be $440.  This includes the camp fee, as well as transportation to and from camp.  There will be two formal dates for donations: Friday, 11/18/22 and Friday, 3/10/23.  Donations for camp can be accepted at any time.

We want to make sure that families have multiple opportunities to help offset the cost of camp, so we will be providing families with many optional opportunities to fundraise. These are optional - your child does not have to participate. If you are interested in taking the lead on a particular fundraiser, please see https://bit.ly/3NCyrcm.

Participation in the sixth grade camp trip is not dependent upon your financial contribution.  Fees for camp are not mandatory and no student will be denied the opportunity to participate because of nonpayment of the fee.  However, if we do not raise enough money for the trip, the trip will be canceled.  We welcome additional donations, above the suggested amount, to help defray the costs.  Students who choose not to attend will report to school each day.

Sixth grade is an exciting year for students as they complete their elementary school experience and this is often one of the highlights.  Thank you for your continued support of our educational program.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email your child's teacher.
