Welcome to 3rd Grade GATE!
Classroom Updates and Announcements
Hello room 13 families,
We will have some fun celebrating Valentine's Day next Tuesday, February 14. The kids brought home a list of class names that they can use to address valentine cards if they would like to. They should have a card for everyone in class. Treats may be attached to valentine cards (pencils, erasers, stickers, candy, etc), but no nut products please. The kids may also bring a container from home for their valentines. I'll also have bags in class.
We have a field trip to Muckenthaler Cultural Center to see a play titled "The Fender Project" on Friday, February 17 from 12:30-2:30 PM. I have room for 2 chaperones on the bus if you'd like to attend. Chaperones may also drive and meet us there. Please let me know if you'd like to chaperone. We'd love to have you! Field Trip permission slips will come home on Monday.
We are changing our spelling and vocabulary routine this week. We will begin our study of classical roots, and will have a list of 8 words per week. The kids will have a study packet each week, and they'll need to know both the spellings and meanings of the 8 words. We will do all spelling and vocabulary in class this week so that I can practice with the kids and get them used to the new routine.
We would greatly appreciate any donations of black dry erase markers, standard sized post-it notes, hand wipes (not Clorox), and treasure box prizes. Thank you! There is no school Monday, February 13 in honor of Lincoln's birthday, and no school Monday, February 20 in honor of President's Day.You can view your child's daily homework on the homework page of this website.
