    Hello room 13 families,

State Testing will begin this week on Tuesday, April 29.  We'll test each morning from approximately 8:30-9:45 AM. The kids are invited to bring a "testing snack" to munch on during testing if they'd like. We find that this eases testing anxiety a bit, and makes the process just a bit more enjoyable.  Healthy snacks are preferred, and please avoid any nut products. We have kids who are severely allergic.  Thank you!

It's important for the kids to get a good night's sleep, to eat a filling breakfast before testing, and to come to school with their fully charged iPads and earbuds or headphones. Homework will be light in order to make time for the biography project which is due May 9. Please note that classes cannot be interrupted during the state test. If students are tardy, they will need to wait in the office until recess, and students cannot be called out of class to go home early during testing time.

We are in need of a few volunteers who would be willing to help make student end-of-the-year art portfolios at home.  We would send home the poster board and suppliesPlease let us know if you can help.  Thank you!

Did you know that the 3rd grade collected 305 pairs of shoes to donate to the needy through our Soles for Souls project? The kids are so proud, and we are proud of them! Our project will be showcased at the FSD Fest, which is the district showcase featuring different projects from all the schools in the district. We will need a few students to help showcase our service project at the event on Saturday, May 17. There are events going on all day at the FSD Fest, but the Innovation Experience, where schools will showcase projects, will take place from 9:15-10:45 AM. Please click HERE to find out more about the FSD Fest in general, and do let us know if your child would like to attend the FSD Fest and help showcase and talk about our project to attendees! All the 3rd grade teachers will be there.

All parts have been cast for our class production of "Munchkin Mediation: Conflict Resolution in Oz." The play is all about problem-solving and getting along with others, and its characters are based on those from The Wizard of Oz. The kids will begin bringing home their scripts this week, and should begin practicing and memorizing their parts and the song lyrics. Please mark your calendars for Tuesday, May 27. The play will be held in our classroom and will begin at 10:30 AM. It's usually standing room only!

Yearbooks are on sale! Please see the flyer attached to this week's Sunday email for details.
