    Hello room 13 families,

Spring parent-teacher conference week is coming March 11-15.  You should have received a separate email regarding conferences.  As a reminder, conferences are by request only.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM each day during conference week.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

This Wednesday is our next school spirit day, and it's College Day!  The kids are invited to wear their favorite college clothing and join in on the fun!

We will have another multiplication fact assessment this Friday, 3/1.  Lots of kids made great progress on the last assessment we had in class. Those results were posted in the kids' Seesaw journals.

Parents, sometimes the kids may need help remembering to charge their iPads each day and to bring them to class.  This is their responsibility, of course, but we've had a lot of forgotten/dead iPads lately, which makes it difficult when we have work/activities planned that require devices.  I've talked to the kids and let them know that we will be going to a "3 Strikes and You're Out" scenario.  That is, if the iPad is forgotten or brought to school with a low battery, it will be marked as a strike, even if it gets brought to class by an adult.  If 3 strikes are accumulated, I will keep the device at school for a time. It will not be allowed to leave the classroom. I will contact you if I need to keep your child's iPad at school. Battery pack chargers from home are fine to bring to class, if needed. They won't count as a "strike", provided the iPad has enough charge to work in class.

Also, as a reminder, the children are not allowed to use smart watches during school hours.  This includes texting you at home.  Please remind your child to refrain from using their smart watches in class. If you need to talk to your child during the school day, please call the office or text me on Remind if it is urgent.  Thank you for your support.

We started using a new app called FRAX last week.  FRAX is great for building conceptual understanding of fractions.  The kids must move through all the levels in order to obtain more advanced material.  They can do 3 levels a day, and then the app stops them.  They have permission to complete their 3 daily levels at home if they don't get time to complete them in class.  The added screen time at home will be up to your discretion to allow or not.
