This class focuses on increasing students’ English skills in the areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. English learners will gain fluency in English to interact meaningfully in school and beyond. We will focus on grammar, conventions, vocabulary, and language arts through a variety of assignments and activities. Students will take the ELPAC assessment in the spring to demonstrate language proficiency, working toward the goal of reclassification.

Please note that in order to improve in language fluency, 50% of our time will be spent practicing language orally; therefore, daily class attendance and participation is very important. I will be asking you to take some risks in class; keeping an open mind and a positive, "can-do" mentality will help you become more confident and proficient in English.
