Welcome Back Letter 2021-22

Dear Parents,

My name is Mr. Rabenston.  I began my teaching career at Fern Drive Elementary in 2000.  Yes, I have been here that long!  I attended California State University Long Beach and received my teaching credential there.  In 2011 I completed my Masters program through National University with distinction.  I was lucky enough to find a home here at Fern Drive.  That’s what this classroom is to me...  a second home!  I put a lot of time and effort into my classroom.  It’s not uncommon to see me there on weekends or even late at night working!  C&M Teaching Supplies is also another place you will find me spending my money.  I love to try out new materials in my classes.  Finding new ways to teach old ideas is fun!
My class is packed with new things to learn and experiences to cherish for our upper grade students.  My goal in the classroom has always been to teach kids in ways that keep them interested in the curriculum.  I'm not afraid to try new things to keep learning memorable and relevant.  This includes teaching kids in different ways to help them learn.  My goal this year is to help our group prepare for their next big step, whether that is 6th grade or Junior High.  I'm looking forward to meeting all of the parents and working with you to ensure that we have a fantastic year!  I'm really looking forward to this 2020-2021 school year.
Many of you have seen me or had me teach your children before.  I want to have a strong partnership with parents so that we can work together to help our children achieve their goals.  I’m a very easy person to deal with.
