    Learning Goal:  Students use the Cover Story Video Rubric to create a video of their athletic journey with the following:  Hook, introduction of journalist, origin (athletic rise), conflict, and comeback.

    3/11 to 3/18

    Learning Goal:  Students write the first draft of part 4 of their Cover Story:  Comeback.  After the athletic conflict, students describe in detail the comeback of their athletic journey.  This is the redemption in their athletic journey.  Students describe the process of the journey in detail; students need to write the dialogue and thoughts of the featured athlete and dialogue of coaches, players, parents, etc.  Students revise and edit with peer before revising and editing with teacher.

    Homework:  Gather photos and film footage of chosen sport; First Draft Conflict due Friday, March 4  

    2/21-3/4

    Learning Goal:  Students write the first draft of part 3 of their Cover Story:  Conflict.  After the athletic origin and athletic rise, students describe in detail the conflict of their athletic journey.  This is the low point in their athletic journey.  Students describe the challenges in detail; students need to write the dialogue and thoughts of the featured athlete and dialogue of coaches, players, parents, etc.  Students revise and edit with peer before revising and editing with teacher.

    Learning Goal:  Students will write Part 2 of their Cover Story:  The Origin.  In the article, we want to know about the athlete's athletic rise.  How is this athlete unique?  What did the athlete do differently?Share with the reader unique routines and describe how the athlete feels about his or her unique routines on or off the field.  An event may have only happened once but it is worth sharing.   Include QUOTATION # 2 by family member, coach, teammate, opposing team, etc.
