    Hello room 13 families,

The kids were very proud bringing in their bottle biography projects last week!  They were so creatively crafted.  I know you'll enjoy seeing them all at Open House next month.  Thank you for your support with that project.  View some pictures HERE.

We will begin taking the California State Assessment, or CAASPP, in just one week, beginning Monday, April 28.  We will be busy this week taking practice interim tests to review and prepare for the assessment in class.  All students will need a pair of corded headphones or earbuds.  Bluetooth headsets are not allowed for state testing.  I'm looking to see if we can get some earbuds in class, but as of right now, I don't have any extras. Earbuds can be picked up rather inexpensively at Walmart or Target.  I will let you know if any become available. Testing will take place in the mornings from approximately 8:30-10:00 AM.  Please avoid morning appointments/absences during testing. You can view some sample practice tests HERE, to get an idea of what some of the test questions will look like. To view the practice tests at home, sign in as a guest user and keep it on guest session.  Sign in, then choose "Grade 3" from the drop-down menu.  From there, you can choose any of the Smarter Balanced Practice or Training Tests.

We will finish up our study of area and perimeter in math and have a chapter 11 test on Friday, 4/26.  The kids will complete a chapter review on Thursday. They should bring it home in their big math books to use as a study tool.

We will also have a multiplication fact assessment this Friday.  Please check in with your child and see if they need help practicing to master their multiplication facts.

We've begun reading through our class play script.  I'll be casting parts later this week.  Every child who wants a part will get one, but they might not get the one they want.  Although I hate for the kids to feel disappointed, I simply can't make everyone happy when it comes to the play parts.  They always end up OK, and will enjoy playing the part they are assigned.  The play is a team effort, and all the parts are important. The play will take place in our classroom on Wednesday, May 22 at 10:30.  It's typically standing room only!  I hope you are able to make it!

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THESE UPCOMING EVENTS!
