Sunset Lane Media Center Policies

  • Hours

Sunset Lane Media Center Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday:  8:00 - 12:45. Use of Sunset Lane books and technology resources is a privilege. Students who do not abide by policies risk losing privileges.

Book Checkout, Renewal, and Overdue Policies

    • Books are checked out to K-6 students for two-week periods.  Students are able to have up to two books checked out to them at a time.
    • A book must be brought to the library to be renewed. Books may be renewed two (2) times.
    • Students should make every attempt to return books on time. Overdue notices are sent to teachers weekly and to parents monthly.

Consequences for Overdue, Lost, and Damaged Books

    • All Students, Kindergarten through 6th:  A student with any book overdue may not check out another book until their account is clear.  To clear an account, students may make a donation up to the replacement cost of the book or replace the book.
    • Parents are asked to help locate “lost” books as quickly as possible to reinstate student library privileges. If the book cannot be found, we ask that donations of money or replacement books are made, allowing students to continue to check out books.
    • Damaged Books:  All library books should be treated with care. Damage fees up to the replacement cost of the book may be charged for any deliberate damage.

    Technology Checkout

    • TK -6th grade students will have iPads checked out directly to them in August.  iPads and accessories must be returned in good condition in May.
    • Students with tech problems should fill out a Tech Ticket (Student Repair Form link is on iPads). Students will be called from class to get iPads repaired.
    • iPads with severe damage should be brought to the MC.  Students and parents will fill out a damage report and the cost of repair will be communicated.
    • Lost iPads should be reported immediately.

Consequences for Lost and Damaged Technology Devices

    • Improper use of tech resources may result in loss of use of technology resources.
