Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Sunset Lane’s 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year:
Ms. Linda Song!

Ms. Song is such an integral part of the Sunset Lane community. She has been teaching for thirty-one years, all of which have been right here at Sunset Lane. She is dedicated to her students, to our school, and to our community as a whole. She has a heart of gold and is always willing to go above and beyond to provide fun and engaging opportunities for our Seahawks. In fact, so many of the enrichment programs that we have here at Sunset Lane would not be possible without the commitment and leadership of Ms. Song. This year alone, Ms. Song co-leads our Student Council, she serves on the RtI leadership team, she helped run Math Olympiad, she is committed to working every single SSOAR Saturday, and she started our first ever eSports team. She is genuine, generous, and collaborative, and if there ever is a need, she will find a way to fulfill it.

Ms. Song is beloved by the students, staff, and families here at Sunset Lane. Last year she had the unique opportunity to loop with her students and move from teaching 4^th grade to 5^th grade. She built such a positive classroom environment and such strong and meaningful relationships with her students, that almost all of her students chose to loop with Ms. Song and stay in her classroom for another year. This is a testament to the type of teacher and person that Ms. Song is. 

Although change is never easy, Ms. Song eagerly jumped into learning her new grade level standards and she is finding fun and creative ways to celebrate her students’ achievement. She strives to meet the needs of all students and to create a sense of belonging and success. She connects learning to students’ interests and backgrounds and has found unique ways for them to come together as a classroom and make an impact on the world around them. Her students truly understand that a single small act can change the future of those in need. 

Thank you Ms. Song for your years of service and dedication to our school. We are blessed beyond measure to have you in our Seahawk family.
