The primary purpose of homework is to reinforce skills, teach responsibility, and help students develop positive study habits. Homework in first grade is assigned four nights a week and should take no more than 20- 30 minutes each night.

I expect students to do their best job on each homework assignment. It must be neat, and all work should be done in pencil, unless specified.

Homework will be sent home in a Monday. It will  need to be returned on Friday.

*They will receive a combination of math, reading, writing, and phonics.

*They need to read for at least 10-15 minutes each night and write in their reading log.

    * During the course of the year, fluency reading practice of words or passages will be sent home.

I will also send home high frequency word practice, fluency practice, and reading books to be practiced at home. I feel these are the most important parts of the homework.

Parents are an essential key in their child’s success in school! Please make homework, especially reading, a top priority in the home.
Provide praise, support, and check your child’s work. If you notice a problem, please contact me.
