Students may check out additional items with teacher and librarian approval.

    Book Returns:

Books can be returned to the library at any time the library is open. Books are due by 8:30am on a class’s scheduled library day. The TLMA has library book check-in & shelving time from 8:30am-9:00am daily. If books are not returned before 8:30am, the library class may lose out on read-aloud time for the day.

The TLMA will provide teachers a list of all unreturned items via email or printed copy.

    Renewals:

A book must be physically brought to the library to be renewed, and may be renewed two (2) times. Additional renewals are allowed at the TLMA’s discretion, generally for longer books. Highly requested titles (such as Dog Man) cannot be renewed.

    Overdue Books:

Students should make every attempt to return books on time. Books are considered overdue if not returned on the student’s scheduled library day. A student with any overdue books may not check out another book until the overdue items are returned or renewed.

    Lost Books:

Before declaring a book lost, students should do a thorough search at school & home for the book. Parents are asked to help locate lost books as quickly as possible to reinstate their child’s library privileges.

To officially declare a book lost, students should inform their teacher and TLMA. A note will go home to inform parents of the lost book and ask for a donation or replacement. The notice must be signed by the parent and returned to the library to regain library privileges.

    Damaged Books:

Students must treat library books with care to avoid damage. If a book is returned damaged, exceeding normal wear and tear, a note will go home to inform parents of the damaged book and ask for a donation or replacement. Consequences for damaged books depend on the nature of the damage.

Repeated lost and damaged books by the same student will lead to a meeting with the TLMA and Principal for further action.
