Goal 1
Student Achievement
- By Spring 2022, the percentage of students in grades 3-6 scoring in levels 1 and 2 ("not meeting State Standards") in ELA on the 2021/22 SBAC will decrease by at least 20% (Decreasing from 62% to 42%) from the 2018/19 results. This will be our benchmark since only our current 6th graders have any exposure to the SBAC.
- By Spring 2022, the percent of English Learners in Grades 3-6 meeting standards on the ELA portion of the SBAC will increase by at least 15% (Increasing from 24.9% to 39.9%).
- By Spring 2022, the percentage of students in grades 3-6 scoring in levels 1 and 2 ("not meeting State Standards") in Math on the 2021/22 SBAC will decrease by at least 20% (Decreasing from 67.51% to 48%) from the 2018/19 results. This means, that for 2021-22, we should aim for a school-wide percentage of students meeting standards to be 52%.
- By Spring 2022, the percent of English Learners in Grades 3-6 meeting standards on the Mathematics portion of the SBAC will increase by at least 20% (Increasing from 21.5% to 42%).
Major Initiatives, Actions, and Services to Improve Student Achievement
- Teachers will participate in professional development and training in their areas of Language Arts, Math, ELD, and their professional growth goals. At the site level, teachers and support staff engage in professional development in order to increase their skills and best meet the needs of students.
- Teacher substitutes will be utilized to support the following programs: Grade level meetings, Conducting Student Assessments, Round Tables/SIT Meetings, Teacher Evaluation Conferences, and Classroom Walk-Throughs.
- Professional Learning Communities (PLC) biweekly for 50 minutes will be managed with a PE Teacher to provide release times for grade levels to participate in to discuss how to respond when students are not learning the G and V Standards and identify interventions to help students at risk.
- Instructional aides will be hired to assist with the increased number of students in Kindergarten (.75), RtI ELA/Math (1 LMB, 1 Math), and before/after school interventions (DELTA). We will continue to use universal screening three times a year. The RtI aide will work with each grade level/teacher to ensure that we are progress-monitoring students and providing RtI Tier I, II, and III support.
- Identified teachers will attend training/workshops such as HRS, CABE, Systematic ELD, CGI, Writer's Workshop, Thinking Maps, RtI, and technology to improve instruction. Consultants will be contracted to present Professional Development such as Writers Workshop, CGI to teachers.
- Materials will be purchased for the RtI and intervention program, additional supplemental materials, materials for EL students to supplement ELD instruction, and after-school programs to use with all students.

Goal 2
Technology and Digital Literacy
- All Valencia Park students and staff will have access to and demonstrate mastery of 21st Century learning tools, resources, and skills in support of relevant and rigorous learning experiences.
Major Initiatives, Actions, and Services to Improve Student Achievement
- Teachers will attend training/ conferences to improve their instructional practices i.e. CUE and other technology conferences. Roving substitutes will be provided to cover classes for grade-level meetings and work with the Tech TOSA.
- Technology support/replacement for Student/Teacher needs iReady, iPads, Laptops, desktop computers, smart TVs, printers, apps, keyboards, earphones, cables, etc. will be purchased to provide students more opportunities to print, publish their final edited works, and support students' needs.
- Computers, laptops, iPads, memory, cables, and other technology equipment and Apps, services will be purchased for teachers, Administration, Office Staff to access and run District (instructional and intervention programs efficiently).

Goal 3
Safe and Secure Environment
- 100% of students will receive lessons in character development via the Harper's Kids Pyramid of Success and the PBIS Program "Be a LION" as measured by teachers’ records. The number of suspensions will decrease as measured by suspension data during the school year.
- Valencia Park will provide a welcoming, safe and secure environment for all members of our school community through our OC Grip Morning Greeter Program.
Major Initiatives, Actions, and Services to Improve Student Achievement
- Teachers will be compensated at the hourly rate to work on the safety plan beyond the workday. In cooperation with District expectations, implement a district-wide plan to support the knowledge and training of all stakeholders to ensure safe work and school environments such as emergency preparedness and safety plans.
- An Assistant Principal will be funded 50% (District 50%) to assist with the implementation of academic and behavior programs. Identify and develop programs that support the emotional and physical well-being of all students and staff such as Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), Bullying/Cyber-bullying training, Coach Wooden's Pyramid of Success character traits.
- A clinical therapist will be contracted out to support/service our teachers’ and students’ needs. Counseling support from the school psychologist, Mental Health Intern, and outside referrals as well as crisis prevention support from Mental Health Intern.
- Certificates and/or other awards will be purchased. Materials will be purchased to support our LION Assemblies and PBIS program.
- Safety materials such as emergency equipment, batteries, containers, signs, cones, replacement of walkie-talkies, cost estimates for facilities repairs/improvement, etc. will be purchased.
- Office reconfiguration with a single point of entry.
- Replacement of Raptor System supplies for electronic badges.

Parent and Community Involvement
- Parent Engagement at Valencia Park School will increase as measured by the number of parents attending Family meetings/events. Valencia Park will support excellent communication among all members of our school community to increase parent/community involvement.

School Activities
- The Valencia Park staff is committed to providing a quality education for all students and recognizes the essential role of parents in our mission and vision.
- Various School Activities: Grandparents Day, Thanks to Parents, BTS Night and Open House, Holiday Programs, Career Day, Volunteer Appreciation Day
- Various PTA Activities: Movie Nights, Character Parade, Holiday Store, All of the Arts Night, Dances, etc.
Advisory and Advocacy Roles
- The following is a list of services, activities, and events taking place at Valencia Park throughout the school year:
- OC Grip Greeters Program
- Promotion and support of the Parents Assisting Teachers (PAT) Club (Second/Third Trimesters)
- Active participation in PTA, ELAC, SSC, and DELAC school-to-home communication in Spanish and English and translators for parent conferences, meetings.
Activities to Support Learning at Home
- The Social Service Assistant will be hired to serve as a liaison between the inter-community agencies, monitor students with attendance problems due to health issues, sustain our PBIS program, and provide parents with information and resources for their child(ren). Coordinate learning support services for identified subgroups to support academic, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional needs.
- Parent Education (Padres en Accion, Parenting, Nutrition) Training (Technology), Improvement class will be offered and parent opportunities to provide assist parents with information regarding the State standards and strategies to help their children at home.
- Establish procedures and fund effective home/school communication such as parent letters, meetings, progress reports, translators during parent/teacher conferences, home/school communication folders, planners, etc.
