    Woodcrest Mission:

    • Meet the needs of our community of learners through rigorous instruction, purposeful technology integration, and our Response to Intervention Model.

    • Create a safe, equitable, inclusive learning environment where all students' cultures and backgrounds are respected through the use of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support.

    • Provide students the tools to be responsible problem solvers and promote their social and emotional learning through the use of Restorative Practices, PBIS, and SEL. 

    • Provide students opportunities to explore their passions through relevant learning experiences in our after-school programs such as ENCORE, ASES, Robotics, Esports, and Speech and Debate.

    • Provide students with opportunities to explore ways to become advocates for equity and social justice and rise up and become change-makers in our school and surrounding community through culturally responsive lessons and DEI instruction.

    Major Initiatives, Actions, and Services to Improve Student Achievement

    Goal 1: Student Achievement

    By the end of the 2023-24 school year, the SBAC ELA Distance From Standard (DFS) will increase by 3 points or more, both overall and for all significant subgroups, which include socio-economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, English Only students, 


    By the end of the 2023-24 school year, the SBAC Math Distance From Standard (DFS) will increase by 3 points or more, both overall and for all significant subgroups, which include socio-economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, English Only students, 


    Woodcrest has an ATSI goal to target students with disabilities.

    • Reader’s Workshop  and Interactive Reading in all Classrooms K-6

    • Writer’s Workshop in all classrooms K-6

    • iReady lessons and progress monitoring in grades 2-6

    • Continued growth in school-wide professional learning communities to promote the authentic, timely assessment of student performance to strengthen instruction and identify students for additional interventions.

    • Increased RTI support for pull-out and push-in support to support our lowest academic students. 

    • We have increased our RTI team to one full-time Math and ELA RTI teachers and one .5 ELA RTI teachers 

    • ELD curriculum and support are given and utilized daily in classrooms.  

    • Sustain PBIS Platinum status to sustain continuous success by all staff and build a collaborative program that all teachers are a part of developing and that will have greater student impact and effectiveness.

    • Establish a structure and culture for continuous improvement by implementing best practices and providing professional development for teachers and staff—additional hours for teacher planning to strengthen instruction. 

    • Substitute Time for Instructional Rounds to improve teacher practice.

    • Additional hours for both before and after-school interventions/support for both ELA & Math Interventions.

    • Ensure student/ teacher access to instructional materials, including digital resources, that are aligned to CCSS.

    • Professional Development to improve our instructional practices and implementation of district initiatives.

    • Give students real-world educational experiences such as field trips to enhance their educational knowledge and love for school. 

    Goal 2: Technology and Digital Literacy

    • All Woodcrest School students and staff, including all significant subgroups, which include socio-economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and English Only students, will have access to and demonstrate mastery of 21st-century learning tools, resources, and skills in support of relevant and rigorous learning experiences.

    • Promote the use of instructional technology as a means to deliver a rigorous and relevant curriculum aligned to the core content standards, taught through 21st-century learning skills.

    • Additional hours to staff to provide professional development in technology to increase teacher capacity in this area and promote student engagement.

    • Provide professional development for integrating 21st-century skills, tools, instructional practices, and teaching strategies into classroom practice.

    • Develop and sustain the Student News Channel and promote coding in the classroom to develop 21st-century skills and career readiness further.

    • Various programs and applications to enhance student learning in school and at home, such as I-ready lessons and Reflex Math. 

    Goal 3: Safe, Secure Positive Culture and Environment 

    • Woodcrest School will provide a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for all members of our community.

    • Identify and develop programs that support all students and staff's emotional and physical well-being. Programs include SEL and culturally responsive teaching instruction and activities and diversity and equity lessons and activities for students and staff. 

    • Coordinate learning support services for identified subgroups to support academic, behavior, attendance, and social/emotional needs.

    • A full-time, fully licensed school counselor is needed to provide individual and small-group counseling and behavior support. Utilizing the school counselor to support classroom teachers in management skills and parental support programs. 

    • Electronic systems to provide positive reinforcements to students, incentives, and experiences designed to improve school climate and safety.  

    • Renewed sustainability of school-wide PBIS. 

    • Safety materials such as emergency equipment, batteries, containers, signs, cones, replacement of walkie-talkies, cost estimates for facility repairs/improvement, etc., will be purchased. Office reconfiguration with a single point of entry. Replacement of Raptor System supplies for electronic badges.

    • Woodcrest will create a campus environment that is beautiful and welcoming for the students and community, including learning areas, colorful entries, promotional murals, and an inviting atmosphere for learning. 

    Goal 4: Parent Engagement

    • Woodcrest School will support excellent communication among all members of our school community and within our district and city geographic area at large.

    • Full-time Social Service Assistant to serve as a liaison between the inter-community agencies, monitor students with attendance problems due to health issues, sustain our PBIS program, and provide parents with information and resources for their child(ren).

    • Establish procedures and fund effective home-to-school communication such as newsletter “The Weekly Wildcat”, parent letters, meetings, progress reports, translators during parent/teacher conferences, home/school communication folders, planners, etc.

    • Increased usage of Social Media for school PR and messaging for all families 

    ATSI Eligibility is derived from data collected through school and state assessments, the following resource inequities were identified: Students with disabilities are not meeting standards in math or ELA as evidenced by the analysis of the iReady Diagnostic, SBAC, and common formative assessment results. Data indicated that teachers need instructional support for students with disabilities. 



    Actions:
