Hello Fabulous Orangethorpe Families
Welcome back!!! I hope you all had an amazing spring break doing things you enjoy with family and friends or just getting some well needed rest.
I want to thank everyone who joined us for the 150th celebration, it really was amazing standing on the stage and seeing all the support in the audience. I am always thankful that my journey brought me to Orangethorpe and Wednesday March 15 just reaffirmed what an amazing community and partnership we have. Orangethorpe IS the "best kept secret".
Thank you also to everyone who attended conferences. I had the pleasure of sitting in some and was excited to hear all the amazing things your children are accomplishing. Thank you for always supporting them in everything they do.
Information/Reminders:
Gum: There has been an increase in students chewing gum on campus and while this may not seem like a big deal, it is being spit out on the playground, walkways and being stuck to furniture. No-one likes to step in gum and when this happens it is being brought into the classroom and sticking to the carpet. It has also been found under desks and in a few instances stuck on student's clothing or hair. Please help me send the message to the students to leave gum at home and also to save our awesome custodial staff extra work. Thank you.
Color Run: Join us on Tuesday March 28 for our Festival of Colors. Students who have returned a permission to participate will receive the color bags. Unfortunately, if we do not have a permission slip, your child will not be able to participate. (TK, K, 1 - 1:00 - 1:20; 1/2 combo, 2nd, 3rd, 4th - 1:30 -1:50; 5th & 6th - 2:00-2:20)
ELAC/Coffee with the Principal: Thursday March 30 8:00 - 10:00am - MPR. We are combing these two events as we providing SEL strategies that our teachers use at school, that you could use at home. Please join us for tips, strategies and take aways to use with your students.
Nicolas Junior High Community Center Grand Opening: Please join us at Nicolas Junior High on Thursday March 30 from 5 -7pm as they have the grand opening of their new community center. A flyer is attached.
FSD FEST: Join us on Saturday April 1 from 9:00am at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Student Union building to see our amazing Fullerton students sharing their talents. Hope to see you there.

While I do enjoy the time off to relax and unwind a little, I also miss being with the students and families. I had the opportunity during spring break to go to another school district to talk to aspiring administrators and while I was speaking, I had a constant smile on my face. You and your children make my job easy and I love the community and interactions we have on a daily basis. One piece of advice I gave to those educators was to build connections and invest in each other. This is not a job or position that can be done alone, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting and allowing us to interact with your children and families everyday.
I wish you all a great week.
Go Orcas!
