Sunday Message - August 14, 2022
Dear Laguna Road Families,
Tomorrow is the first day of school! We are excited to welcome our Roadrunners to the 22-23 school year. We can’t wait to get to know each one of you. Please read below about important details to start the year.
Parking and Traffic Safety
Please review our parking map and directions for a safe drop off and pick up. The most important things to keep in mind are safety and patience. The parking lot will be crowded, and you should expect pick up to take time. Please drive slowly so that pedestrians can safely cross and cars can merge into and out of the drive-thru lane. Please communicate to your child how he or she will be picked up.- In the morning, the front of the school is for drop off only. Students need to be ready and able to quickly exit the car on the right side. Parents, please say quick good-byes from your driver seat.
- Those who would like to walk their child in should park in the neighborhood.
- The bell will ring at 8:30, and students are expected to be at their line by 8:30.
- They will be marked tardy if they are not at their line by 8:30.
- After school, students who are being picked up in the drive-thru lane will sit in the yellow box in front of school. Parents, please keep this area clear so that students and staff can see the cars that drive up. If you are walking in to pick up your child, you can wait closer to the office and kindergarten classrooms.
Campus Safety
Parents may walk their students to their classroom on the first day of school. After the first day of school, parents need to stay in the front of the school. We cannot have parents in the hallways or near the playground. If you come to campus as a volunteer, you must check into the office first and wear your volunteer badge.
Volunteers
We look forward to having volunteers on campus! Tomorrow morning, PTA will be out front with sign ups for our different Laguna Road events and classroom volunteer needs. We will share more information about how to become a volunteer at Back to School Night. We will also host a volunteer event on Monday, August 29th. At that event, we will go over paperwork, answer questions, and help as many parents as possible complete the paperwork to become a volunteer.
Principal Meet and Greet
Tomorrow at 8:45am, feel free to meet me in the Sullivan Center (MPR) for a brief meeting and a time to get to know one another. I look forward to seeing our returning families, and meeting our new families!
Calendar Events
This Friday, PTA has arranged for a Kona Ice Truck to come after school from 2:00-4:00pm. See the attached flyer for more information. Come cool off from the hot weather and celebrate our first week of school!
Back to School Night is on Wednesday, August 24th. PTA is planning a taco truck and hopes you will join for their first meeting. See the attached schedule and flyer for Back to School Night.
I have included a draft calendar for the school year. Hopefully this helps you plan for our year long events and activities. Please remember that events are subject to change.
We will see you soon, Roadrunners! Make sure you get a good night’s rest and eat a good breakfast before coming to school. You can always check our school website to see our school calendar, the current bell schedule, and our PE schedule.Go Roadrunners! Beep! Beep!
