Message to the FSD Community regarding the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas

      Dear Fullerton School District Community,

      On behalf of the Fullerton School District and its Board of Trustees, our heartfelt thoughts go out to the community, families, students, and fellow educators tragically impacted by yesterday’s events at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.  We extend our sympathies to everyone affected by this tragedy.

      This event has affected the entire nation, and we want you to know that the Fullerton School District is committed to providing support to ensure our children have the safe learning environment they deserve.

      We would like to reassure you that the safety of students and staff is our highest priority.  Our current safety procedures include the following:

       

      • Regularly practicing school safety drills and performing campus safety evaluations
      • Emphasizing vigilance and reporting of suspicious persons or behaviors on campus
      • Staffing dedicated to monitoring campuses and checking-in school visitors
      • Maintaining a close relationship with the Fullerton Police Department who provide support to our schools
      • Ongoing staff training on emergency and crisis response
      • Providing students with lessons and resources that support their social-emotional well-being
      • Providing counseling support for students throughout the school year

       

      Mental health professionals are available for our students and staff to address anxiety or confusion over these events.  Please contact your school principal if your child needs additional support.

      Please be assured that while your children are at school, site staff is prepared to appropriately address any concerns students may express.
