Tiny Home Update
Posted by Allison and Nathan on 3/8/2024 3:00:00 PMOur wood shop students have been making fantastic progress! They have framed the shower completely, added electrical and metal protectors for the wires. Due to the rain, the students have been protecting the house and windows with a tarp. The students have now uncovered the windows and the house and continue persevering throughout the process. Our students are enthusiastic about finishing the project, and are really excited to help a family in need!

Build Day #3
Posted by Nathan on 1/27/2024 1:00:00 PMMost students use the weekend to take a break from school, but this is not the case for our Wood Shop students. Our Wood Shop students were here on Saturday during Saturday school, working hard on the tiny home. First, they were split up into two groups; one group worked on the loft bed frame, while the other group worked on the bed supports. The ridge beam for the roof was put up by the contractors. The fire blocking was also completed, and the roof rafter was started. Our tiny home Wood Shop students are the hardest workers we know out there!

Tiny Home Update
Posted by Allison, Nathan, and Kalena on 1/19/2024 2:00:00 PMToday, we saw some great progress from the wood shop students. Wood shop student Sofia said that they had already built all four walls. Not only are they learning important ways to build in the wood shop class, but they are also learning how to be responsible. Due to the upcoming rain, Mr. Vidales is teaching the students how to be responsible by putting all materials away in the storage container. Meanwhile, some students are working on a different project, finishing a shed which will also be used for storage in the future. The wood shop students have been working diligently despite the weather. We can’t wait to see what the wood shop students will do next week!

Posted by Allison and Nathan on 12/16/2023 1:00:00 PMOn Saturday, December 16th, some of the Wood Shop students attended Saturday school to work on the Tiny Home. The students have been working alongside the construction workers to finish the installation, and they laid the moister barrier for the floor. The students are now beginning to work on the framing of the walls. They're also building two shelves to organize the shed. The major wall framing has been started. Despite the hot sun, the students were working diligently and had a great attitude. The Tiny Home looks amazing so far. We can’t wait to see more progress from our Wood Shop students next week!

Tiny Home Update
Posted by Allison, Nathan, and Samantha on 12/1/2023 2:00:00 PMOn November 15, the Woodshop students went out to the construction site and had their first build day. Unfortunately, it was rained out. However, while they were able to work, they worked alongside the “pros”, or construction workers, and learned from them. Construction workers were able to demonstrate how to use the miter saw. From here, the Woodshop students were able to apply their newfound knowledge to cut the floor joints of the trailer. Woodshop students claim that if they would have not gotten rained out, they would have finished the floor joints and started on installation. Despite them getting rained out, the wood shop students had a great attitude!
Students are now working on floor joists of the trailer. They are working to finish the floor joints and hopefully start on the insulation from there. They will start building the walls.

Build Day #1
Posted by Kalena and Ruben on 11/15/2023 1:45:00 PMToday was the first build day of the Tiny Home. New Dimensions Construction Company is partnering with Nicolas to make this project come to life. The students started first thing in the morning, trying to get as much done before the storm blew in. The goal was to complete the floor joists. The Woodshop students learned how to use the miter saw to cut the wood needed for the floor joists. Unfortunately, due to the rain, their building day was cut short.
