Dr. Chad Hammitt

Dr. Chad Hammitt serves as the Interim Superintendent of the Fullerton School District, bringing decades of experience in education, school and district leadership, and Human Resources to the role. Dr. Hammitt began his career in education as a classroom teacher in the Santa Ana Unified School District, where he taught kindergarten and first grade and later worked across multiple grade levels in a Spanish bilingual and general education classroom settings. His passion for education was shaped by his early experiences working with students and families and his commitment to serving diverse student communities.

Since joining the Fullerton School District in 2017, Dr. Hammitt has held several key leadership roles, including Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, Deputy Superintendent, and most recently Interim Superintendent. Throughout his tenure, he has been recognized for his steady leadership, collaborative approach, and deep understanding of district operations.

Dr. Hammitt earned his bachelor’s degree from Vanguard University, his master’s degree from Azusa Pacific University, and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California (USC). He was born in San Diego and raised in Ventura, and currently resides in Orange, California. Family is central to Dr. Hammitt’s life. He is a proud husband to a teacher and father to a son and daughter. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, woodworking, home repair and remodeling, and is an avid cook with a special passion for barbecuing and smoking meats.

Dr. Hammitt values relationships above all else and enjoys connecting with students, staff, families, and community members. He often shares that one of his favorite aspects of the Fullerton School District is the wide variety of high-quality programs and opportunities offered to students, ensuring there is something engaging and meaningful for everyone.

He welcomes opportunities to connect and encourages members of the Fullerton community to say hello when they see him around campus or at district events.
