Estimadas familias del Distrito Escolar de Fullerton:

Hoy, me siento honrada de comenzar mi rol como la superintendente del Distrito Escolar de Fullerton. 

Desde el primer momento en que empecé a conocer este Distrito, pude darme cuenta de lo que hace de Fullerton un lugar especial: empleados dedicados, familias involucradas y una comunidad profundamente comprometida con sus escuelas y sus estudiantes. Estoy agradecida por la oportunidad de unirme al Distrito Escolar de Fullerton y de servir a su lado. 

Doy comienzo a esta tarea, con gratitud, humildad y un deseo auténtico de aprender. El Distrito Escolar de Fullerton posee una historia de orgullo, con varias fortalezas, y me enfocaré durante los próximos meses en escuchar, aprender y construir relaciones. 

Cada distrito tiene su propia historia, y creo que es importante tomarse el tiempo de entender esa historia antes de forjar el camino a seguir. Estoy ansiosa de visitar las escuelas, conocer al personal, conectarme con las familias y aprender más acerca de los valores y las tradiciones que hacen de esta comunidad, una comunidad tan fuerte. 

Como educadora a lo largo de toda mi vida, creo que cada estudiante merece la oportunidad de aprender, crecer y prosperar. Apoyar el éxito estudiantil permanecerá en el centro de mi trabajo y estoy deseosa de trabajar en colaboración con el personal, las familias y la comunidad, para continuar sirviendo juntos a nuestros estudiantes.  

Gracias por darme la bienvenida a Fullerton. Estoy ansiosa de aprender con esta comunidad y de edificar sobre esta fundación sólida que ya ha sido forjada para nuestros estudiantes.

풀러턴 교육구 가족 여러분께

오늘 저는 풀러턴 교육구(FSD)의 교육감으로서 새로운 역할을 시작하게 되어 매우 기쁘게 생각합니다.

이 교육구를 처음 알게 된 순간부터 저는 풀러턴을 특별하게 만드는 것이 무엇인지 알 수 있었습니다. 헌신적인 직원들, 적극적으로 참여하는 학부모와  가족들, 그리고 학교와 학생들을 진심으로 아끼는 지역사회가 바로 그것입니다. 풀러턴 교육구의 일원이 되어 여러분과 함께 봉사할 수 있는 기회를 갖게 되어 진심으로 감사드립니다.

저는 감사하는 마음과 겸손한 자세, 그리고 배우고자 하는 진정한 열정을 가지고 이 역할을 시작합니다. 풀러턴 교육구는 자랑스러운 역사와 많은 강점을 가지고 있으며, 앞으로 몇 달 동안 저는 경청하고, 배우며, 신뢰와 관계를 쌓는 것에 중점을 둘 것입니다.

모든 교육구에는 저마다의 이야기가 있습니다. 저는 앞으로의 방향을 정하기 전에 그 이야기를 충분히 이해하는 것이 중요하다고 믿습니다. 학교를 방문하고, 교직원들을 만나고, 가족들과 소통하며, 이 지역사회를 강하게 만드는 가치와 전통에 대해 더 많이 배우기를 기대합니다.

평생 교육자로서 저는 모든 학생이 배우고, 성장하며, 자신의 잠재력을 마음껏 펼칠 기회를 가져야 한다고 믿습니다. 학생들의 성공을 지원하는 일은 앞으로도 제 업무의 중심이 될 것이며, 교직원, 가족, 그리고 지역사회와 협력하여 학생들을 함께 지원해 나가기를 기대합니다. 

저를 따뜻하게 맞아 주셔서 감사합니다. 이 지역 사회와 함께 배우고, 이미 우리 학생들을 위해 마련된 훌륭한 기반 위에 더 큰 발전을 이루어 나가기를 기대합니다.

그레첸 잰슨 박사

Dr. Gretchen Janson is an accomplished educational leader with nearly 30 years of service in California’s public school system. Previously serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Business Services for the Lynwood Unified School District, she brings a unique blend of instructional knowledge and fiscal expertise to her leadership roles. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, and her professional journey—which spans roles from classroom teacher to district administrator—is guided by a strong moral compass and a commitment to students.

In her approach to leadership, Dr. Janson emphasizes that public education is a powerful change-maker in the lives of students. Having begun her career in the classroom, she remains grounded in the belief that every district decision must center on what is best for student success. She is dedicated to honoring the foundations of the communities she serves while moving them confidently into the future through innovation and partnership. A collaborative consensus builder, she prioritizes listening and building authentic relationships with teachers, staff, and families to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Throughout her career, Dr. Janson has demonstrated financial acumen and operational expertise, including successfully passing multiple facilities bond measures and overseeing the $250 million rebuild of the new Lynwood High School campus. She understands that a school district’s priorities are built in its budget and that funds need to be allocated in support of students.

Dr. Janson joined the Fullerton School District in July 2026 because of its distinguished reputation for excellence, innovation, and its deep commitment to community partnership. 

A native of the South Bay, Dr. Janson balances her professional dedication with a focus on her family and personal well-being. She has three adult children, the youngest of whom graduated from USC in May 2026. To stay energized, she loves to be active and spend time outdoors, often walking or hiking and enjoying quality time with her husband and her dogs.
