Before You Apply

Before submitting your Interdistrict Transfer request:

✓ Review the application period and submission deadlines.

✓ Determine whether additional documentation is required.

✓ Allow up to three weeks for application processing.

What Is an Interdistrict Transfer?

An interdistrict transfer allows students to request attendance at a school outside of their district of residence. This includes:

Students who reside outside Fullerton School District and wish to attend an FSD school.
Fullerton School District students requesting to attend a school in another district.

Application Period

For the 2026–27 school year, the Interdistrict Transfer application period is January 12-February 13, 2026.

Applications must be submitted online by 4 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026. The online application is available only during the Open Enrollment period.

After the Open Enrollment Period

Applications submitted after the deadline, will be considered based on available space at the requested school, grade level, and/or program.

Requesting an Interdistrict Transfer INTO FSD or an INTENT

If your student lives outside Fullerton School District and you would like them to attend an FSD school, you must first request an interdistrict transfer through your district of residence and follow that district's application process.

What if My District Isn't Accepting Applications Yet?

Some school districts have different application timelines. If your district is not accepting interdistrict transfer requests during Fullerton School District's Open Enrollment period, you may submit an Intent Form to notify FSD of your interest.

Please note:

An Intent Form does not replace your district's Interdistrict Transfer application.
You must still complete and submit an Interdistrict Transfer request through your district of residence when it becomes available.
The Intent Form is available only on this page during the Open Enrollment period.

There is no advantage to submitting your application earlier or later during the Open Enrollment window. All completed applications received during the Open Enrollment period are given equal consideration.

Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered based on available space at the requested school, grade level, and/or program.

Requesting a Transfer OUT of FSD Interdistrict Transfer Application Request and Terms

If your student currently attends Fullerton School District and you'd like them to attend a school in another district, submit an Interdistrict Transfer application during the Open Enrollment period.

Application Period

The online application is available only during the Open Enrollment period. The only exception is for students with a recent change of residence.

How to Apply

Complete and submit the online Interdistrict Transfer application to the Child Welfare & Attendance Department.
Please allow up to three weeks for processing.

Additional Documentation

If your request does not fit one of these categories, please submit a letter to the Director of Administrative Services explaining your request.

Your student is continuing at the requested school.
Your student has a sibling who currently attends the requested school.
A parent or legal guardian is employed within the requested district. (Must fill out the Employment/Childcare Verification Form (available below) and attach to transfer application.)
A specific program that is not available in Fullerton School District (Must specify).
Your child's childcare provider is located within the requested district. (Must fill out the Employment/Childcare Verification Form (available below) and attach to transfer application.)
