What is the K-Pop Battle of the Bands?

• The K-Pop Battle of the Bands is a competition where student bands perform with K-Pop songs to showcase their talents in singing and dancing. It’s a great opportunity for students to develop their performing arts skills and collaborate with others in a group setting.
• The program is also about Korean culture, history, and arts! Educational experiences are an integral part of the experience.

Who can participate in the auditions?

• The auditions are open to all junior high students in the Fullerton School District who have a passion for singing and dancing in the K-Pop genre and meet the eligibility criteria specified in the registration guidelines.
• Students DO NOT have to know K-Pop music to be a part! All we ask is for an open mind to the genre and the culture, art and history behind it.

How can parents and families learn more about the program?

• Students - each junior high will have had an assembly in August to provide information about the program and give students a glimpse into the process.
• Parents and families - there will be an informational webinar for all junior high families on Thursday, September 4. There will be a 5:00 PM and a 7:00 PM session.

How do we register for the auditions?

• You can register online at  https://bit.ly/kpopbattle. Please make sure you receive parent/guardian permission to participate, which will be indicated on the form.

 Is there a cost to the student or family for participating?

• This program is FREE to  all FSD junior high students who make it through the trainee and band audition phases!

 What does the commitment look like for students who participate?

• Trainee Phase - participating in all Wednesday afternoon K-Pop training sessions in November 5, 11, and 20 - from approximately 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM
• Band Development Phase - participating in all Wednesday afternoon trainings from January 8 through April 1, 2025.
• All phases - collaborate, work hard, and grow your skills as a performer and as a group!

When and where are the auditions being held?

All auditions will be held in-person, and students can choose from these two dates:

• Wednesday, October 1 / 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM - Robert C. Fisler School
• Wednesday, October 8 / 1:45 PM - 5:00 PM - Nicolas Junior High

What is the format of the auditions?

Students will be asked to audition for both dance AND vocals.

• Dance - students will dance to 30 seconds to a song of their choice.
  • Students will be able to audition for dance in groups.
• Vocal technique - students will sing a 30-second acapella song of their choice.
  • Students will audition vocally as individuals.

Who will be judging the auditions?

The panel will include FSD staff and K-Pop industry professionals.

What happens after the auditions?

Each school’s K-Pop lead teacher will notify students of the audition results.
