Information about Middle College

• Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for K-12 students to take FREE college courses while still attending their K-12 schools.
• Courses vary by district and are offered both in person and online, depending on availability.
• Credits earned through Dual Enrollment are transferable to mosts 4-year universities.
• Examples of subjects include: Art, Administration of Justice, Journalism, Computer Science, and more.

• Earn your college degree in less time.
• Explore different general education courses.
• Save money. Dual enrollment students are not required to pay tuition. All materials and books are provided as well!
• Explore career fields before starting college.
• Experience an easier transition to college.

• College credits - no junior high or high school credits

• Courses are typically .5-3 units

• Course grades will show on Fullerton College transcripts

• Withdrawals

  • Can be an option if the student is receiving D’s or F’s.

  • Withdrawal within the first few weeks - no records.

  • Withdrawal after the first few weeks - “W” on transcript.

  • FSD will be in regular contact with instructors regarding student progress. 

STUDENTS

• Abide by FSD behavioral and academic expectations

• Take proper care of any materials/equipment borrowed from the district

• Take ownership of your own learning
• Arrive to your classes on time
• Manage your time wisely
• Speak to the instructor/professor if you have any questions/concerns
• Do your very best!
   

PARENTS

• Help your student complete and submit any registration paperwork/forms before deadlines
• Attend all mandatory meetings (registration night/orientation)
• Provide the student with a suitable location at home for taking the course
• Reinforce all behavioral expectations for the class
• Encourage your student to be actively engaged during class
• Support and encourage your student to complete assignments on time
• Avoid speaking to the instructor/professor. Your student is now taking ownership of their own learning.
