Board Member Jeanette Vazquez

Jeanette Vázquez was elected to the Fullerton School Board in November 2016 and represents Trustee Area 5, the southeast region, which includes the attendance boundaries of Maple, Richman, Woodcrest, Pacific Drive Elementary, and Nicolas Jr. High.

Jeanette is a passionate educator, an advocate for families in Fullerton, and an avid supporter of developing the whole child through equitable educational opportunities. Influenced by her parents in leading a life through the values of hard-work and integrity, Jeanette has dedicated her personal and professional life to serving the community. As an elementary school teacher and product of Fullerton schools, Jeanette thoroughly understands that strong partnerships between all stakeholders will ensure students are ready for college, career, and life.

Jeanette was raised in Fullerton and attended Richman Elementary, Nicolas Jr. High and Fullerton High School. As a daughter of immigrants, she learned from her parents’ resilience and determination. Her involvement in school activities and her caring teachers encouraged Jeanette to recognize and appreciate the value of Fullerton’s quality public education.

Jeanette attended Cypress College as a first-generation college student and was elected Student Body President. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating from Berkeley, Jeanette went on to advocate for working families as an AmeriCorps Fellow with Iowa Legal Aid. There, Jeanette formed community partnerships to help educate families around worker, tenant, and immigrant rights. Upon returning to California, Jeanette attended Loyola Marymount University where she attained her Teaching Credential and began teaching second grade. Jeanette then earned her Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Policy and Administration from Loyola Marymount University.

As a teacher, sister, and aunt, Jeanette knows that access to a great quality education is the key to our children’s future. In her spare time, Jeanette enjoys spending time with her four siblings, camping in Yosemite National Park, and running marathons. She recently completed her 2nd marathon and was proud to cross the finish line with her father!
