Dear Fullerton School District Families:

As we head into our third week of school, I continue to be inspired by the people, programs and partnerships that make Fullerton School District such a special community.

As I visit school sites and attend Back-to-School Nights, I have enjoyed meeting families, students and staff and seeing the welcoming learning environments our teachers and classified staff have created. Our final Back-to-School Nights take place this week, and I look forward to connecting with more of you.

Last week, we launched Breakfast in the Classroom at Pacific Drive Elementary, our third FSD school to offer the program. Seeing students begin their morning together with a nutritious breakfast is a wonderful reminder that supporting student success starts with ensuring they feel cared for, fueled and ready to learn.

At our first Board of Trustees meeting of the 2026-27 school year, we celebrated several outstanding accomplishments. We recognized our Speech and Debate students who competed at the national championships this summer, including Parks Junior High and Fisler School, both earning Schools of Excellence honors – the tournament’s highest distinction for middle schools.

We also recognized the Fullerton Education Foundation for providing more than $112,000 in support for FSD students, schools and programs last year. This investment from our community helps enrich learning, inspire innovation and create meaningful experiences for our students.

These moments bring great joy to the work we do, and I am proud to be part of a community so deeply committed to our students.

With gratitude,

Gretchen Janson, Ed.D., Superintendent
