Summer Learning Thrives Across Fullerton School District

Learning continued well beyond the last day of school as thousands of Fullerton School District students participated in a variety of summer programs designed to support academic growth, creativity, enrichment and personal development throughout June.

Opportunities included the GATE Summer Scholars Academy, where newly identified gifted learners collaborated to create and perform original stories; the STAGE Summer Theater Program, which culminated in productions of Shrek The Musical Kids and Finding Nemo Kids; and Speech and Debate Summer Camp, where students strengthened their public speaking, argumentation and leadership skills.

Additional programs included Extended School Year (ESY), which provided specialized academic, therapeutic and life-skills support for students with IEPs; Extended Play, offering self-paced online learning in English language arts and mathematics; and All the Arts Summer Camp, where elementary students explored visual arts, moviemaking, theater and other creative experiences.

Still in progress through July 17, the Encore Summer Camp combines academic support with enrichment in STEM, arts and other engaging subjects, while also supporting literacy and language development for English Learners.

“Summer learning is about more than keeping students engaged – it’s about providing opportunities for them to build new skills, strengthen confidence and stay connected to learning during the summer months,” Interim Superintendent Chad Hammitt, Ed.D., said. “These meaningful experiences inspire curiosity, foster creativity and support success both in and out of the classroom.”
