New Superintendent Begins Listening and Learning Across Fullerton School District

After officially beginning her tenure on July 1, Fullerton School District Superintendent Gretchen Janson, Ed.D., hit the ground running, spending her first weeks visiting all 20 schools, connecting with District Office staff and meeting employees working behind the scenes to prepare campuses for the upcoming school year.

"One of my top priorities is listening and learning from the incredible people who make this District so special," Janson said. "Before helping chart our path forward together, I want to understand what makes Fullerton School District exceptional, from its people and programs to its traditions and community."

Janson has visited the District's Encore summer program, toured bond-funded construction projects, observed campus beautification efforts, and met with nutrition services, grounds, custodial and maintenance teams. 

The visits have given her a firsthand look at the work taking place across the District while providing opportunities to connect with employees, ask questions and learn more about the programs and services that support students every day.

"Every conversation and every campus visit has reinforced the strong commitment our employees share to creating innovative opportunities for students,” she said. “I am excited to build on that foundation together.”

In the weeks ahead, Janson will continue collaborating with school and District leaders, participating in back-to-school planning and professional learning, and spending time on campuses as Fullerton School District prepares to welcome students on August 10.
