ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS SBAC/CAASPP Goals:

• By Spring 2022, the overall SBAC ELA Distance from Standard (DFS) will increase 7 points from -1 to +6
• By Spring 2022, the ELA Distance from the Standard for Economically Disadvantaged will increase 10 DFS points

MATHEMATICS SBAC/CAASPP Goals: 

• By Spring 2022, the overall SBAC Math Distance from Standard (DFS) will increase 7 points from -17 to -10
• By Spring 2022, the Math Distance from the Standard for Economically Disadvantaged will increase 10 DFS points

Major Initiatives, Actions and Services to Improve Student Achievement

• Teachers will participate in professional development and training in their areas of Language Arts, Math, ELD, DEI, and their professional growth goals. At the site level, teachers and support staff engage in professional development in order to increase their skills and best meet the needs of students.
• Teacher substitutes will be utilized to support the following programs: Grade level meetings, Conducting Student Assessments, Round Tables/SIT Meetings, Teacher Evaluation Conferences, and Classroom Walk-Throughs.
• Professional Learning Communities (PLC) biweekly for 50 minutes will be managed with a PE Teacher to provide release times for grade levels to participate in discussing how to respond when students are not learning the G and V Standards and identify interventions to help students at-risk. 
• RtI ELA- We will continue to use universal screening three times a year. The RtI aide will work with the RTI teacher to ensure that we are progress-monitoring students and providing RtI Tier III support.
• Identified teachers will attend trainings/workshops such as HRS, PBIS Restorative Circles, and DEI Consultants will be used to present Professional Development on the district’s culturally responsive framework.
• Materials will be purchased for the RtI and intervention program, additional supplemental materials, materials for EL students to supplement ELD instruction, and after-school programs to use with all students.
• Rolling Hills will support excellent communications among all members of our school community and within our district, city, and geographic area at large.

Digital and Informational Literacy

• All Rolling Hills students and staff will have access to and demonstrate mastery of 21st-century learning tools, resources, and skills in support of relevant and rigorous learning experiences.

Major Initiatives, Actions and Services to Improve Student Achievement

• Students across campus have access to technology throughout their day. Teachers have updated resources, including teacher laptops and iPads, document cameras, LCD Projectors, Chrome Books, and Apple TVs. In addition, students and staff have access to numerous supplemental resources via iPad Apps and classroom programs.
• Staff have been trained in utilizing educational technology. Ongoing training on technology resources, grade-level curriculum overlays, and the pathfinder program will continue this year. HRS will also be implemented and the goal is to allow teachers to observe each other’s best teaching and instructional technology practices.

Safe and Secure Environment

• Rolling Hills will provide a welcoming, safe and secure environment for all members of our school community.

Major Initiatives, Actions and Services to Improve Student Achievement

• Teachers will be compensated at the hourly rate to work on the safety plan beyond the workday. In cooperation with District expectations, implement a district-wide plan to support the knowledge and training of all stakeholders to ensure safe work and school environments such as emergency preparedness and safety plans.
• An Assistant Principal will be funded 40% to assist with the implementation of academic and behavior programs. Identify and develop programs that support the emotional and physical well-being of all students and staff such as Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS), Bullying/Cyber-bullying training, and academic and intervention needs post-pandemic.
• Support from the school psychologist, Mental Health Intern, and outside referrals as well as crisis prevention support from Mental Health Intern.
• Certificates and/or other awards will be purchased. Materials will be purchased to support our Roadrunner Assemblies and PBIS program.
• Safety materials such as emergency equipment, batteries, containers, signs, cones, replacement of walkie-talkies, cost estimates for facilities repairs/improvements, etc. will be purchased. Replacement of Raptor System supplies for electronic badges. 

Parent and Community Involvement

• Promote engagement of all parents by creating a culture of inclusion through open and effective lines of communication and by providing families with meaningful opportunities to support and celebrate student learning and cultures.

• School Activities
  • We maintain an interactive website that includes a calendar of school events, frequent principal messages, a parent involvement page, and school news.  We also utilize social media including Twitter and Facebook, and Remind to ensure parents receive information in a timely manner. We conduct parent information nights and community events.  We hold a Back to School event in the Fall and an Open House in the Spring.  Our PTSA, ELAC, SSC, and GATE organizations are an integral part of our campus, fostering parent involvement and input.

• Activities to Support Learning at Home
  • At Rolling Hills, Students, Staff, and Parents work closely to support the success of our students in a warm and welcoming environment where high academic expectations and fun in learning go hand in hand.  Weekly communication folders, homework, teacher websites, Tier 2 workbooks, before and after school help, and iPads are sent home to 4th-6th grade.  Parent classes for internet and cyber safety are offered 1-2 times per year.
