It is a pleasure and privilege to work alongside the amazing and dedicated staff at Commonwealth Elementary School. Undoubtedly, Commonwealth Elementary School is a special place filled with caring, energetic, enthusiastic, and intelligent individuals who love working with the students and community. I look forward to continuing to meet and collaborate with all staff, students, parents, and community to ensure continuous growth in academic achievement, excellence in learning and teaching, and providing an educational experience that will guarantee each and every student endless opportunities!
Education has always been my passion. As an adult, I realize it is a passion that is both innate and one fostered by my parents. My parents always instilled in each of their children the importance of an excellent education. I am proud that education was foundational in our upbringing as I now reap the benefits of being able to share my passion with others.
I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History, with a minor in Chicano/a Studies and Liberal Arts and a Master’s Degree in Education from UCLA. Go Bruins! During my studies at UCLA, I was an instructional aide at an elementary school, tutor for incarcerated youth, and a substitute teacher. Once I graduated with my teaching credential (also from UCLA), I worked at El Rancho Unified School District for 14 years. I taught in the classroom for 11 years (grades kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th) and worked at the District Office as a Bilingual Resource Teacher for 4 additional years. Between 2010-2013, I was a principal in the Bassett Unified School District.
I am extremely proud of the accomplishments we have already experienced at Commonwealth Elementary! I look forward to another exciting year!
